Practice Leader Ian Davey MIPA AABRP has been working for both large and small Insolvency Practitioners since 1988.

He started his career working for the Department of Trade and Industry (now called The Department For Business, Enterprise And Regulatory Reform), following which he spent four years working in London for a national firm of Chartered Accountants. This invaluable career step led to an exposure to both large and small company failures, during which he saw a number of repeated mistakes being made by individual directors.

His career continued following his return to the south coast and he was engaged in primarily corporate insolvency matters, working with a number of owner-managed businesses.   He rose to a senior level with a large national firm of Chartered Accountants in their corporate recovery department which gave him experience with a number of varied businesses, all with their own unique problems, leading in turn to bespoke solutions.

He cares passionately about the rescue of businesses rather than the dismantling of them. Where possible jobs are saved and creditors obtain a much better return.   Whether in a senior position with a national firm of Insolvency Practitioners, or working as an independent consultant, Ian has assisted many diverse businesses over the years, often in a hands-on capacity helping them through their individual periods of difficulty.

With such a vast amount of experience directly working with distressed companies he has also developed his own turnaround processes, in some cases leading to him putting his own money where his mouth is!
